<p>First off – I want to say thanks to everyone who shared their habits with me. I got a TON of responses to my last article, and I’ve really enjoyed reading them. I’ll be replying to each of you individually via email – but I just wanted to make a note here too.</p>
<p>As far as today’s article…</p>
<h3>I want to talk about the importance of having a roadmap in your business.</h3>
<p>Recently, I spent several hours working on some big picture stuff for Copy Accelerator&#8230;</p>
<p>And, specifically…</p>
<p>I spent this time further developing the foundational frameworks we’re going to use for the mastermind as we move into our second year.</p>
<p>I wrote about some of these concepts two weekends ago, when they were first being conceived…</p>
<p>But, I was able to further refine them&#8230;</p>
<p>And I’m attaching a picture of what I’ve got currently so you can check it out too.</p>
<p>This isn’t “final”…</p>
<p>Some of the names and word choices will change…</p>
<p><b>But I still think it’s pretty cool: </b></p>

<p>Now, let me give you some context for what you’re looking at&#8230;</p>

<p>What's listed there are the assets and the processes that will allow our members to achieve their HOW.</p>
<p>The phrasing isn't final in this section (for example, I don’t really like the phrase “On-Demand Resources”)…</p>
<p>But I do think it’s a pretty solid start.</p>
<p>What’s pretty neat is that we’re going to be rolling out this framework at our February event…</p>
<p>Then, making sure that everything we teach and share ties back to this foundational framework as well&#8230;</p>
<p>But, believe it or not&#8230;</p>
<p>I’m not sharing all of this to make a pitch for Copy Accelerator or our event&#8230;</p>
<p>And you won't even find a link to our event sales page in this article.</p>
<p>Instead&#8230;</p>
<h4>I’m sharing this because, after spending a few hours doing “deep work” on this yesterday…</h4>
<p>I feel like I have more clarity about Copy Accelerator than ever before&#8230;</p>
<p>And my guess is that many folks on my list could benefit from doing something similar.</p>
<p>For any big project or business that you’re focused on…</p>
<h3>It’s just so helpful to set aside some time to develop a roadmap…</h3>
<p>Something foundational…</p>
<p>That all of your other actions and decisions will tie back into.</p>
<p>For the diagram I shared here…</p>
<p>It’s really like a cheat sheet.</p>
<p>Because now…</p>
<p>For any decision we make about the program…</p>
<p>Or content we create…</p>
<p>Or training we do…</p>
<p>We can make sure it’s related to this foundational framework.</p>
<p>It makes our lives easier…</p>
<p>And, it will help Justin and I to amplify our effectiveness even more.</p>

	Yesterday I looked at the funnel for a company in the pet space that’s doing 8 figures a year…

And, the truth is, it wasn’t very good.

In fact, when I looked at it – I immediately saw 5-10 things that could be improved…

Which made me really excited.

Why?

Because it means that both me, and the company, are about to make a LOT of money.

For the company, I’m pretty sure I can double their conversion rate, and probably add another $30-$50 to their AOV…

Which is MASSIVE…

Because dialing in those two things doesn’t just allow them to go from $10MM in revenue to $20MM…



Those are the kind of metrics that can help them go from $10MM to $100MM+ in the blink of an eye.

Sounds nuts, but I’m serious.

The company is already very solid at media buying…

They just need better economics for their funnel…

And, they’ll be able to scale that bad boy to the moon.

Oh, and on my end…

I’m stoked because I’ll probably propose a deal with them where I get paid for every percentage-point I increase conversions…

Plus, I’ll work out an additional deal with them where I get some big bonus based on how much I can increase their AOV.

So for example, let’s say the deal is that I get $1,000 for every 1% increase to conversions…

Well, if I get their funnel to go from 1% to 2%…

That’s a 100% increase in conversions.

Which means an extra $100,000 for me.



Doing deals like this can be some of the easiest cash you ever make as a freelance copywriter…

And you almost feel guilty…

Until you remember that the client is usually THRILLED to pay an extra hundred grand…

If doing so means they’ll be able to profitably double their revenue (maybe even 10x it).
<h2>So, how am I going to double their conversions and increase their AOVs?</h2>
On the conversion side:

I’m going to give the client several split-tests to start running.

Here’s some of the stuff we’re going to be testing immediately:


<ul>
 	<li>New headlines (you can almost always can find a 10-30% increase in conversions from headline tweaks alone)…</li>
 	<li>Moving the positioning of the testimonials and reviews that are on their page. Social proof is vital, and they have over a thousand 5 star reviews, but right now those reviews are buried. -Optimizing the way the packages are shown on the homepage (the format is confusing AF right now)…</li>
 	<li>Tweaking their checkout page (I see at least three mistakes they’re making on it currently)…</li>
</ul>
And those are just a few off the top of my head.

Then, on the AOV Side…

It’s really going to be just writing new upsells and changing the offer structure a bit.

For this part…
<h2>I’m simply going to use the tricks I’ve learned from Justin Goff, Jordan Hall, and Jay Deiboldt.</h2>
Justin is my partner on Copy Accelerator, and he’s one of the most knowledgeable people on upsells I’ve ever met…



Jordan Hall is a Copy Accelerator Member – and his presentation at our event in Austin was all about how he routinely gets 50% take rates on upsells. Several people have since used what Jordan taught and have reported back that they’ve doubled or tripled their upsell conversion rates, too.

And Jay Deiboldt is also a Copy Accelerator Member. He’s the genius behind the $50MM Credit Secrets offer that’s running with Larry King. Jay’s going to be speaking at our upcoming mastermind in February. Specifically, he’s going to be sharing how he routinely increases the AOV on $37 info products by $40 or more just by modifying his upsell flow.

So, between Justin, Jordan, and Jay…
<h2>I have the blueprint that I can now implement for my clients…</h2>
And that’s all but guaranteed to increase their conversions and AOVs dramatically….

Which means way more money for both them, and me.

Now, why am I sharing all of this with you?

A few reasons.
<h3>First – I want to make you aware of a fairly common deal structure, something that creates a massive win-win for both the copywriter and the client.</h3>


The client is paying for performance only, while the copywriter is getting compensated richly for making small tweaks that have a large upside. Justin is the one who first turned me on to this deal structure, and now several of our Copy Accelerator members use it too. So, whether you’re a writer or a business owner – this is something you should be playing with too.
<h3>Second – never forget how important split-testing is.</h3>
Oftentimes your funnel is actually more dialed in than you think, but there are a few small changes that, if you made them, would lead to outsized gains.
<h3>Third – because I’m going to be spilling-my-guts about split-tests at our Copy Accelerator Mastermind in February.</h3>


At the event I’ll be sharing at least 9 of the biggest split-test wins I’ve had in 2020 so far. And not in some superficial way – I’ll give you the playbook behind each of these split-tests so you can just steal them and start using them yourself.

So, if you’re a copywriter and you watch this presentation…

You can then take these split-test wins and make a LOT of money with them.

Specifically, what I would do is set up a deal structure that’s similar to the one I mentioned above.

You can do this with both existing clients and also new clients, which is really nice. It’s easy for them to say “yes” to.

And then once they have said yes…

You just “copy and paste” the split-test winners I’ve shared into your clients funnels…

Watch their conversions skyrocket…

And get paid a LOT as a result.

<p><b>I want to tell you why Justin was right about this sales page (and why I was wrong).</b></p>
<p>We had the sales copy for the page finished in early December…</p>
<p>But we didn’t start production on the page itself until a few days before Christmas.</p>
<p>Justin was in Cabo from December 20th to the 26th…</p>
<p><b>So I was in charge of coordinating with Blake from our team to get the sales page live.</b></p>
<p>Which I did…</p>
<p>Blake got the page up super-fast…</p>
<p>And when I looked at it I thought: “hey, this is pretty good!”</p>
<p>Then Justin got back from Cabo…</p>
<p>He took one look at the page…</p>
<p>And he had a laundry list of things that he felt needed to be changed.</p>
<p>If I’m being honest…</p>
<p><b>At first, when I saw this feedback I was PISSED.</b></p>
<p>Not at Justin specifically…</p>
<p>But I was frustrated…</p>
<p>Because I knew it would delay us going live with the page for at least a week.</p>
<p>Justin wanted pictures running down the side of the sales page where we showed people who were at our previous event in Austin…</p>
<p>He wanted the testimonials on the sales page to be formatted differently…</p>
<p>And he wanted to entirely redo the section where we introduce the lineup of guest speakers.</p>
<p><b>I felt like maybe he was being nitpicky…</b></p>
<p>Especially since I often have a “lean startup mentality”…</p>
<p>Where I just put up a minimum viable product to start, and then do tweaks after the page is already live.</p>
<p>I figured this approach would work here, too…</p>
<p>Especially since our first event in Austin was attended by nearly 200 of the biggest names in Direct Response…</p>
<p>And those folks couldn’t stop talking about how it was one of the best events they’d ever been to.</p>
<p>So I figured when we announced that we were making a limited number of seats to our February Mastermind available to the public…</p>
<p>People would jump at the opportunity…</p>
<p>Regardless of whether we had a sexy looking sales page or not.</p>
<p>Honestly, I still think that would have been the case…</p>
<p><b>But Justin doesn’t half-ass things.</b></p>
<p>He’s not a perfectionist…</p>
<p>But he does care deeply about things like design, layout, and presentation…</p>
<p>And because of his conviction…</p>
<p>I ultimately agreed to not share the Event Sales Page…</p>
<p>Until we’d made all of the changes he wanted.</p>
<p>And, of course, here’s the thing:</p>
<p><b>Justin was right, and I was wrong.</b></p>
<p>The page looks so much better now…</p>
<p>And honestly, I’m really excited for you to see it.</p>
<p>As soon as you start scrolling through it…</p>
<p><b>You’ll see pictures of Marc Stockman and Jeff Radich, who are the owners of Natural Health Sherpa.</b></p>
<p>They’ve sold over $150MM worth of health products, they’re members of Copy Accelerator, and they’re both speaking at our February event.</p>
<p><b>You’ll see Dan Lok, who put his head copywriter into Copy Accelerator.</b></p>
