A Gushy, Mushy Post About Mindset

So much of success is mindset.šŸ†

You hear it all of the timeā€¦šŸ‘‚

And maybe you believe it, or maybe you don’t.🤷

I used to be ā€œwhateverā€ about mindsetā€¦šŸ˜Œ

But after coaching hundreds of people over the past few years…

I see it again-and-again – mindset is the difference between those who thrive and those who do not.

Impostor SyndromeImposter syndrome…

Self-sabotage…

Fear of rejection…

Feeling like you’re bothering people if you ask for help…

It all comes down to mindset…

And the feeling or belief of not being good enough.

  • ā€œI don’t have enough value.ā€
  • ā€œ I don’t deserve success.ā€
  • ā€œI don’t belong.ā€

They’re all manifestations of the same thing…

Not being ā€œenough.ā€

And we’ve usually carried these feelings with us for years.

There’s a reason the best shrinks spend a lot of time talking about our childhood…

These feelings are so often linked to traumatic or scarring moments from our past.

Some of them are obvious, and we can point to them right away…

Others are buried deeper…

We’ve blocked them out, yet they remain lurking below the surface.

So how do you fix this?

How do you shift your mindset?

There are a million answers: books, courses, coaches, mentors, therapists – you name it.

There’s no right answer…

But I will tell you this:

A Gushy, Mushy Post About MindsetProbably the most impactful way to level up the mindset that I’ve found thus far…

Is to be surrounded by people who believe in you.

It’s so simple, but it can carry you so far.

So as a coach and a mentor to people…

Sometimes, the most effective thing I can do for them is to tell them a simple truth:

That I believe in them with every fiber in my being.

I love them.

So many ā€œgurusā€ and ā€œleadersā€ don’t really want to talk about this stuff.

Or if they talk about it, it’s on some surface level, but their actions don’t back it up.

For me, I really try to back it up.

I want my tombstone to say: ā€œhe cared moreā€ or something to that effect…

And last night while we were at dinner…

I told my wife Laura that I want to start scheduling some ā€œmindset daysā€ with people…

Where I book a space…

Whether it’s in Vegas or somewhere else…

And there’s an open invitation to anyone who wants to come.

Then, for several hours…

All we do is work on mindset.

No pitches, upsells, or ulterior agendas…

Literally, just me trying to spend as much time as I can with each attendee, telling them that I believe in them and that I love them…

A Gushy, Mushy Post About MindsetAnd we’ll also find a way to bring in some outside experts on mindset too…

Plus we'll structure it in a way where people get the biggest impact possible.

Kind of weird? Maybe.

Kind of awesome? I think so.

Because if/when I do…

Everyone is invited to come.

P.S. You know what’s fun about this post? I know a lot of people will love it. But I bet it’ll lead to a bunch of ā€œunfollowsā€ too. People who read my content for the tactical stuff. They just want to make more money, bro. They don’t need to hear about mindset.

It sucks knowing this is true, but it’s fun because at least those people are self-selecting. If you’re not open to at least considering that mindset may be very underrated, then I don’t really want you to be a part of my tribe. Nothing personal, though.

P.P.S. On the flip side, if you’re someone who is truly committed to making their life better, then I’m so glad you’re with me.

I don’t care if you’re homeless or rich. I don’t care if you’re a man or a woman. I don’t care if you’re skinny or fat. I don’t care what country you are from, or the color of your skin, or your sexual orientation, or anything else.

I couldn’t care less.

The fact that you are committed to achieving great things in your life is inspiring as hell. I love you. And I really do believe in you.
