Nobody likes Facebook

Over the past few months, I’ve had conversations with several high-level agency owners and business owners…📩

And one common theme was how “over” Facebook everyone is.🤔

On the one hand, this is nothing new…

Marketers have been complaining about FB for years…🤷

But on the other hand…

It does feel a bit different this time.

Why?

Because in the past, you saw a lot of marketers trying to figure out ways to “play nicely” with FB…

They acknowledged the abusive relationship with “The Social Network,” but they kept coming back…

Because when things were running good…oh baby, that loving was oh so sweet.

Now things have changed.

Today, when a business owner talks about how they are struggling with consistent traffic on FB…

The prevailing wisdom seems to be, “totally dude, you should get off FB and focus on YouTube/Native/XYZ.”

That’s a big shift…

And I’m curious to see how that impacts Zuck’s flytrap in the long term.

I’m not going to sit here and say to bet against Facebook (they have massive resources, own a lot of properties, and employ a ton of really smart people)…

But I will tell you this:

When virtually every advertiser hates your platform…

And when even most of your core users don’t like you…

That’s pretty problematic.

I mean, think about it:

Do you know a single person who really likes Facebook?

Probably not.

I hate to say it, but at this point, FB is basically a utility…

A seeming necessity for staying connected to folks…

But the honeymoon period is long over…

And I don’t see how FB will ever have people falling back in love with them again.
